Residential Services

Intandem strives to provide a home-like environment for over 300 individuals with developmental and behavioral disabilities, while promoting growth and independence in daily living skills and social interaction. An emphasis is placed on choice and integration into the community, consistent with individual abilities and interests.

A variety of options and supports are available in both Cattaraugus and Niagara County that include:

Supervised Individual Residential Alternatives (IRAs)

Supervised Individual Residential Alternatives (IRAs), provide 24-hour staff supervision and utilize person-centered planning to establish services consistent with the protective oversight needs of each individual, while maximizing the pursuit of individual goals and quality of life for each person. These residences typically house fewer individuals than Intermediate Care Facilities.

Intermediate Care Facilities (ICF)

(Niagara Only)

ICF’s offer the most intensive and highly supervised residential setting for individuals with extensive needs. Programming is based upon professionally developed activities, experiences or therapies (i.e., nursing, nutrition, recreation, social work, psychology and self-care) appropriate to individual needs.

Family Care

Family care allows individuals an opportunity to live within a family setting in the community. The family care provider in conjunction with agency staff provides supervision and training.

The Supportive Apartment Program

(Cattaraugus Only)

The Supportive Apartment Program is designed for people who do not need the level of support or monitoring provided in an IRA, ICF or Family Care setting. They may live on their own with only a minimal amount of support. This program manages apartments, primarily in single settings, but also for a few married couples. The apartments are in the Olean, NY area and ensure a safe, well-maintained alternative to other residential settings. The people served also have 24-hour access to staff by phone.

Staff members provide training and oversight in areas such as nutritional education, grooming and self-care skills, home maintenance, budgeting, health status, educational or employment support, and interpersonal skills.
