I had been looking to get a job with Intandem for quite some time. I am a parent of a special needs person, and I love the mission statement of the Agency: “people, purpose, progress.” My daughter (Megan) is well served here, and I have seen first-hand the passion of those who work with and for each individual we serve.
I wanted to be a part of that, not only for me, but for my daughter. It took a while to find an open position that would work for me personally. I was looking for a job that was not directly with our people because my daughter gets that focus from me, and I did not want to take away from that. I now work as an administrative assistant and have been in my position for just under a year. My one-year anniversary will be in March.
From orientation right to this minute, I am amazed at the behind-the-scenes workings of this agency; from the people behind the programs, the people who work directly with our folks, to those who keep things running and growing. In my position, I have the opportunity to work in several different buildings, and each one is unique. Our folks are the best people!
What I love most is their honesty: they do not hide who they are. What you see is what you get. They have their bad days, but the good days are glorious! I am not exaggerating. It is the most family-oriented place I have ever worked. I have never felt like an outsider here, and I have a new respect for what this agency does. After over 40 years of being in customer service in one form or another, I have finally found my work home.
That is what it feels like. I am happy to be here, and my plan is to be here until I retire.
