I grew up with my grandma working for family care and had people we support (PWS) live with her, while my grandpa worked for First Transit at the time, driving the buses transporting PWS for Intandem to programs and home.
My mom worked in residential and at Subcon. I would go with her to the house every now and then and once in a while to Subcon with her. I guess you could say it’s in my blood. I love my job, I love knowing that the PWS look forward to seeing me. Knowing that I can make a difference in their day and lives, by just showing them I care. You have to love what you do to be able to work in healthcare in general.
This isn’t just a job to me, it’s more than that. It’s knowing that no matter what, I have made a difference in their lives, and they have all made a difference in mine.
